‘Do not worry about your difficulties in Mathematics. I can assure you mine are still greater’
This quote always made me smile 🙂 I struggled so much with maths at school and college. This quote was on a poster on my Physics room wall, it reminds me that no matter what is going wrong at that time in my life someone else is always worse off. This is something I need to remember more often as we go in to the new year.
“For me, religion is like a rhinoceros: I don’t have one, and I’d really prefer not to be trampled by yours. But it is impressive, and even beautiful, and, to be honest, the world would be slightly worse off if there weren’t any.”
I’m not religious, I could be spiritual if I tried. I think this quote is beautiful and should most definitely be read by everyone!
Now it is such a bizarrely improbable coincidence that anything so mind-bogglingly useful could have evolved purely by chance that some thinkers have chosen to see it as a final and clinching proof of the non-existence of God. The argument goes something like this:
“I refuse to prove that I exist,” says God, “for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing.”
“But,” says Man, “the Babel fish is a dead giveaway isn’t it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves that you exist, and so therefore, by your own arguments, you don’t. Q.E.D.”
“Oh dear,” says God, “I hadn’t thought of that,” and promptly vanishes in a puff of logic.
“Oh, that was easy,” says Man, and for an encore goes on to prove that black is white and gets himself killed on the next zebra crossing.
Okay the last one isn’t technically what is classed as a quote…but it’s hilarious 😛
Be happy you lovely nests of vipers xx
