This may come as a shock to you all but I am actually a trained Barista, that’s the people who make coffee not the people who go to court, that’s Barrister.
In my ‘day job’ I serve coffee, lots and lots of yummy coffee. Now I’m not bragging but I went to a revered establishment in Skipton to participate in Barista training, where they know their s**t when it comes to coffee, they even gave me a certificate! This was about 5 years ago, so from my 5 years of practice I’m pretty good at the whole different coffee making experiences and since that is pretty much all I do at work (most of the time) it can get really frustrating when the glorious general public think it’s acceptable to tell me, and my colleagues who are also Barista trained, how to make coffee!
The way you tell us how to make your coffee might be how you like to drink it but it’s not the way it is actually supposed to be made.

Here is just a snippet of odd requests:
Now our Latte’s and Cappuccino’s are made in different sized/shaped mugs. One is a Cappuccino cup one is a Latte cup, designed presumably for their different intake of milk. Latte’s are a long pour made up mostly of milk, Cappuccinos on the other hand are made up of espresso, milk and a covering of foam. *I have included a diagram for your viewing pleasure 😉
I have had this request on more than one occasion;
“Could I have a Cappuccino but can I have it in a Latte mug”? Their reason for this request is because it stays warm longer in a big cup, fair enough but the reason their Cappuccino goes cold so quick is because it is covered in foam! So if I made a Cappuccino then poured it in to a big mug they’d just have a mug full of foam and complain that they just had a big mug full of foam! Anyway I now just make these people a Latte and they’re none the wiser.
“Can I have a black Americano”? Simple enough you may think…So I make the Americano, filling it to the top because the customer asked for it black, I hand it to them. “Can you pour some out so I can put milk in it please”? Really?
“Can I have a Latte and a Cappuccino”? I make said drinks, place them in front of the customer, “Which one’s which”? These people don’t even know what they are ordering!
Anyway, it is definitely one of my all time pet peeves, drives me bonkers.

The lack of manners, not just with customers, with anyone, please and thank you should just be second nature. Anyone who doesn’t use them when required should have their knuckles shaved and lemon juice poured on them.
Pet Peeve Number 3.
This may seem like a weird one. Fake mouths. Like the ones they use to pretend that someone’s mouth is moving..they really irritate me. I think it’s because they look so stupid, I know they aren’t meant to look real but I can’t stand to look at them.
Don’t ever let anyone make you think you’re not good enough,
follow your dreams right now! Don’t wait until tomorrow,
next week, next year. Stop planning, start doing 🙂
