It’s the little things

We are only 47 days in to this year and I am already well on my way to a better me.

I have cleared so much clutter out of my mind. I have taken stock of what is important and I have removed everything that just does not serve a purpose in my head. It is such an exhilarating feeling.

My head is filled with good thoughts and positivity. I have set myself some small simple tasks that I felt I needed in my life and I have kept up with them. I do have some huge things on my list too but I understand that these will take time. I’m not letting that put me off or stress me out. I’m just looking forward to the process of getting there because it is going to be amazing.

So far this year I have introduced two new habits in to my life;

  1. Drinking a glass of water first thing in the morning.

I do tend to drink a lot of water anyway but I’ve noticed that having a glass of water as soon as I get up makes a huge difference. It wakes me up, makes me feel refreshed and also starts me off on the right foot. Plus it’s already a mini win before you’re even out of bed!

2. Flossing.

I’ve always known that I should be taking better care of my teeth, I’ve just obviously never cared enough to do anything about it. Well from the beginning of January that changed. I have flossed my teeth every day this year (Okay so I ran out of floss sticks for 3 days, but I’ve stuck with it since..). I know it might not sound like a big deal, but to me it is and now I’ve made it a habit it’s even easier to stick to it.

I know what you’re thinking…

“What on actual earth is she talking about? Flossing..and drinking a glass of water. Is she serious”?

Well yes I am. I’ve made two small positive changes but they have had a huge impact on me. These two things are beneficial to me in terms of health and they have also helped to improve my frame of mind.  My teeth feel cleaner which in turn makes me happy and more confident about my smile, so I smile more which makes other people smile more! Changing the world one floss stick at a time 🙂

Drinking all of this water makes me more alert and switched on. Even mild dehydration can cause a significant loss in concentration. Being more alert helps me to get things done, which means I’m not stressing about having so much to do. I just get on with it 🙂

Now that these are a formed habit I can introduce other little things that might make a huge difference.

For example, I receive emails from Holly Matthews (a wonderful mindset coach and Law of Attraction practitioner) in regards to the courses of hers that I em enrolled on. In one of her previous emails she has a suggestion of marching on the spot whilst brushing your teeth. This is genius! I have an electric toothbrush and after two minutes it vibrates to let me know when I can stop brushing. This is perfect for marching on the spot. I also have a little step in my bathroom so I even do step-ups! Obviously you can count up to two minutes, you don’t have to buy an electric toothbrush for this…

These little tweaks can eventually equate to a dramatic change. I know that doing step-ups in my bathroom for four minutes a day isn’t going to get me ready to run a marathon but it’s making the most of the time I have. I do fit in yoga and running when I have time throughout the week but I have stopped beating myself about it when its just not possible. Give yourself a break, you’re only human.

I am learning to create a beautiful life for myself and so far it’s working out pretty well ♥∞
