Does anyone else hate the word ‘genre’?

Do you hate that word? Genre..

I don’t personally have a problem with it but I know some people hate it, I presume it’s more to do with how it’s pronounced than the actually word. I’m guessing it’s French, it sounds French and so we pronounce it in French. And sometimes end up sounding like a pretentious t**t.

I’ve wondered slightly off topic, I’m supposed to be discussing my favourite genre of music. Yes I’m starting to dislike the word now.

I would go so far to say that I like at least one song from every kind of music. Surely you have to, it just comes down to probability. In the thousands of songs for each genre there will be one in there that you like from each. I don’t know all of the genres;

Pop, Indie, Alternative, Blues, Rock, Bluegrass, Funk, Soul, Reggae, Ska, Classical, Ballads, Rap, Folk, Hip-Hop, Country, Rock ‘n’ Roll, Punk, R&B, Gospel, Disco, Techno.

Lets just say that there are lots.

I think I would happily say that my favourite genre is Blues. It’s highly likely that I will change my mind several times but as of now, writing this post it’s Blues.

Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, Robert Johnson ahhh, who doesn’t love them?

I shall tell you the sort of music that I certainly do not like and that is that weird, shouty, throaty, weird music. Can it even be called music? I don’t think it can. So when I said we must, statistically like a song from every genre, I lied. This music is the exception to the rule. Is it heavy metal? Β It’s terrible and pointless, but each to their own I suppose.

Don’t ever let anyone make you think you’re not good enough.Β

Follow your dreams right now! Don’t wait until tomorrow,Β

next week, next year. Stop planning, start doing πŸ™‚

Be happy and keep smiling πŸ˜€
