My monthly challenges

I had promised myself that this year I would put forward a challenge each month to complete and for some reason I stopped halfway through May, I think…

Anyway, I did have the challenge of a 16 mile hike in June which we unfortunately had to take a rain check on and we returned this month (August) to complete it. The question is does that count as June and August’s challenge, or just June’s?

Either way I didn’t have anything in July. I’m not one to give up though so I shall start fresh from September and I do plan to carry this on forever. They might not be huge challenges, such as the hiking ones, some are smaller but just as important.

I shall recap my previous challenges;


January Β –

Walking Whernside.

February –

Getting my nose pierced.

March –

No chocolate for a month.

April –

Ab challenge (see video evidence on my YouTube channel).

May –

Get up at 6 am for a week.


May is where it all went wrong. I did complete the weeks challenge of a 6 am start and I have been doing so for many mornings since, however I made the silly mistake of putting two challenges in one month. I opted for a 21 day guided mediation, the Oprah/Deepak one which you received via email. I was hoping to go back and do it at my own pace, unfortunately it doesn’t work like that, the links had to be used as they were sent. So I think that knocked my focus slightly.

June –

16 mile hike (rain check) However I did also write and publish my first book, that must be a big tick challenge-wise right there?

July Β –

Hayley and I survived a night in a tent with two teenagers. (they were our children! I thought it was best to point that out…) I’d say that was challenging, they smell.

August –

16 mile hike (completed this time)


For September I am pondering a ‘splits challenge’. Apparently in 30 days you can train yourself in to the splits. We shall see πŸ™‚ Again I am no further forward in my planning so I’m still on the look out for challenge ideas for the rest of the year, please feel free to share suggestions πŸ™‚
