…no they are not!
“You need to be prepared to work at a marriage”
“It’s not all plain sailing”
“It’s not all rainbows and butterflies”
Take your pick from the absolute balderdash relationship advice that people dole out so freely. I don’t believe that relationships are hard work, I think this is something miserable people tell themselves to feel better in their failing relationship.
Relationships should not be hard work. Why must they be? And if they are why do we bother? I believe that this is a fallacy we’ve been told, much like the bulls**t we’re fed about people being mean to us because they like us.
If your relationship is such hard work then why on Earth are you in it?
If your relationship is such hard work then did it ever occur to you that maybe you’re not compatible? If you’re spending your days being unhappy and fighting shouldn’t you be asking yourself why?
‘You need to be perfectly happy being alone before you can be truly happy in a relationship.’
Life is too short to be in a soul destroying relationship.
Think of it this way, if you grew to dislike your best friend would you continue to be friends? If all you ever did was argue and you generally didn’t like each other, would you continue with the friendship? Of course you wouldn’t!
I believe that people stay in their loveless, sad relationships because they are afraid to be alone. You need to be perfectly happy being alone before you can be truly happy in a relationship.
Before I met Chris I was happily single, completely content, I was happy in my own company and so was Chris. Now that we’re together we’re just even happier than before.
I am happy every single day. We don’t argue, we don’t find the relationship to be hard work, it doesn’t need to be worked at, it’s just as it should be. I’m not saying we live in La La perfect land but I have never once thought that it was a chore to be in this relationship.
In the past, in previous relationships, I have often thought,
“It’ll get better”
I was kidding myself, trying to make it in to something it wasn’t and that’s why they ended. I made the decision to be happy, which ultimately lead me to be single and not settle just because I didn’t want to be alone.
Life is too short to constantly be working your arse off for something that makes you miserable. I honestly do not understand why people do this to themselves.
Don’t ever let anyone make you think you’re not good enough.
Follow your dreams right now! Don’t wait until tomorrow,
next week, next year. Stop planning, start doing 🙂
Be happy and keep smiling 😀
