Advent Calendar Review

An advent calendar to me has always been 24-25 doors, a little picture of a Santa, a snowman or a candy cane, the usual Christmasesque images and a rather tiny, disappointing chocolate, depending on where you buy it from.

All in all it’s basically just an excuse to eat chocolate for breakfast isn’t it?

But if you’re looking for something a little more special than a bargain shop calendar then here it is.

FotoInsight offer unique advent calendars for each individual. You can choose from a range of layouts and designs, then upload your photo or photos depending on your chosen design and voila! You have your own personalised advent calendar!

You can have your own personal photos printed on to an advent calendar of your choosing, not only that but you can choose to have the calendar filled with Kinder chocolates, Ferrero chocolates or even a self filling calendar.

No it doesn’t fill itself unfortunately but it does give you the option to make the contents all the more personal.

Filler ideas:

  • Jewellery
  • Love notes
  • Money
  • Inspirational quotes
  • Sweets
  • Vouchers
  • Candles
  • Mini perfumes

Anything you like, as long as it fits.

The compartment sizes differ from day to day with the smallest being 5.5 cm x 5.8 cm x 3.5 cm and the largest (Christmas eve) being 10 cm x 13.5 cm x 3.5 cm.

I opted for the Ferrero photo calendar. It was super easy to design, I chose the design that gave me three pictures to upload. I originally wanted pictures of my family but a decent picture of all three of us together is scarce so the ones I do have weren’t of good enough quality for the calendar. I could have used them but they would have probably come out looking a bit grainy. The photos I did end up with weren’t fantastic but they look great on the calendar.

So this year our advent calendar displays the beautiful Heidi , Mr.White and Nibbles the gerbil.

I love the calendar, it’s different, you can make it your own, it has a nice satin finish and the photos are displayed well, plus you get 24 doors to open which is a lot more than can be said for some other calendars that are on the market right now…

The Ferrero chocolates that came with my calendar were Raffaello ones, which unbeknownst to me are white chocolate, I’m not usually a fan but these were delicious, however if you don’t fancy those there’s different Ferrero chocolates available and there’s always Kinder or you can have a calendar with 24 days of photos 🙂
