Welcome to my world...

I am genuinely in love with my life right now! Especially when I get to work with such an awesome dude on a brand new project 😁 I have major plans to take over the world. I'm planting my seeds all over. It's been a long, slow process but I feel like things are slowly coming together. I have a million things going on and I love all of them. Submissions for the sexual assault survivor book are welcome until the end of August! This is going to be an ongoing project, hopefully, and I will reopen submissions in January for the next book. I don't want someone to feel like they missed the chance to share their story. I will also eventually put together some guidelines for submissions based on the stories I've been sent so far. I've not yet made my way through them, please try to be patient. Once I have read them I will contact each person to verify whether or not they would like to be named or remain anonymous, if you've already specified that then obviously I wont need to ask you. I understand how delicate this is for every single one of you and I understand the enormous amount of courage it has taken for you to send your stories to me, to some of you I'm a complete stranger, which in some sense probably made it easier. But I am inspired by every single one of you and I am so very thankful that you helping my idea become reality! So thank you. Now this might not seem like a huge deal to some but this has always been a great fear of mine.... Taking my car to a garage for a service, on my own! I usually leave this up to my dad to arrange but I just thought 'I'm 35 I should be able to do this on my own'! I was dreading it for weeks and I very nearly cancelled 20 minutes before the appointment. It did cause an anxiety attack and I drove to the garage with a severe feeling of dread, dry mouth, shaking and terrified. I know, it sounds ridiculous! I wasn't heading for battle! I panicked about where I would park my car, who do I talk to... what do I do! It was all fine though. I didn't die. All was good, and I picked my car up 3 hours later. I have, unfortunately been completely ripped off by said garage and in future I will just leave it up to my dad. But! The main point here is that I faced my fear! Now, next on my list is to have faith that the petrol hose will reach around to the other side of my car when all of "my side pumps" are taken! Today I made a donation to a food bank and I'm ashamed to say it was the first time I've ever been out and shopped purely for food bank donations. I'm not posting this for recognition for myself, I'm posting it to encourage others. Even if it's a couple of cheap tins or a packet of pasta! This lot here cost less than £20 and no, I won't be doing this every week, it might not be every month, but every once in a while, when I can afford it I will make a donation. I shared my blog post about sexual assault as a kind of therapy for me and also to encourage and support others to share theirs. I'm now putting together a book with a collection of other survivors stories. I've recently had quite an influx of messages and emails from people wanting to share their experiences. And obviously I would prefer that this never happened to you, but I am so proud of every single one of these people. This is going to be incredibly empowering for all of us. I already feel like it's helped so many by giving them a platform to speak up! I am yet to read the submissions sent to me because I've been sent so many at once and I also feel like I need to prepare myself because I believe it's going to be quite heavy going. But, thank you.
